SUMMARY:RPDP National Board Candidate Writing Workshop 1: Introduction to Thinking and Writing for National Boards
DESCRIPTION:Series Purpose: To assist National Board candidates in the thinking and writing involved in completing Components 2 – 4 of the National Board Certification process. This series of 2-hour workshops will address the thinking\, analyzing\, reflecting\, and writing demands of Components 2 – 4. Instruction will be a blend of lecture\, online\, whole class and small group discussion\, and peer writing review and response. A writing workshop approach will be taken\, so participants will read and respond to colleagues writing and instructional videos. Optional: Participants may earn 4 CUs if they attend all four workshops and complete an additional four hours of homework online (12 hours). \nWorkshop 1: Introduction to Thinking and Writing for National Boards – The first workshop will focus on the three types of writing necessary to complete the National Board Certification process: narrative/descriptive writing\, analytical writing\, and reflection. Participants will address the following questions: What types of thinking and writing does the National Board expect? What does this look like? How do I collect and analyze my classroom data? How will my assessments look (formative and summative)? \nSeries Outcomes: Through direct instruction\, discussion\, and collaboration with colleagues\, National Board Candidates will \n\nUnderstand and apply the thinking and writing involved in the National Board certification process.\nDevelop and refine descriptive\, analytic\, and reflective writing skills.\nApply\, refine\, analyze\, and reflect on formative and summative assessment practices.\nWork in collaborative response groups to revise and edit Components 2 – 4.
