SUMMARY:RPDP National Board Writing Workshop 2: Analysis and Reflection
DESCRIPTION:Series Purpose: To assist National Board candidates in the thinking and writing involved in completing Components 2 – 4 of the National Board Certification process. This series of 2-hour workshops will address the thinking\, analyzing\, reflecting\, and writing demands of Components 2 – 4. Instruction will be a blend of lecture\, online\, whole class and small group discussion\, and peer writing review and response. A writing workshop approach will be taken\, so participants will read and respond to colleagues writing and instructional videos. Optional: Participants may earn 4 CUs if they attend all four workshops and complete an additional four hours of homework online (12 hours). \n Workshop 2: Analysis and Reflection – The second workshop will focus on reflective and analytic thinking and writing. Participants will work in writing response groups reading and discussing each other’s writing\, while addressing the following questions: How is each type of writing unique? How does the thinking differ? What is the purpose of commentary in analysis? What type of details do I include? How can I be clear and succinct? How do I show my thinking? Participants will bring their own work and will share with colleagues. \nSeries Outcomes: Through direct instruction\, discussion\, and collaboration with colleagues\, National Board Candidates will \n\nUnderstand and apply the thinking and writing involved in the National Board certification process.\nDevelop and refine descriptive\, analytic\, and reflective writing skills.\nApply\, refine\, analyze\, and reflect on formative and summative assessment practices.\nWork in collaborative response groups to revise and edit Components 2 – 4.
