Our aim was to compare the effects of human decellularized native ECM from normal (dECM-NH) or failing hearts (dECM-PH) on human CPCs. Our results suggest that resident CPCs exposed to the pathological microenvironment of remodeling ECM partially lose their paracrine angiogenic properties and release more pro-fibrotic cytokines. These observations shed novel insights on the crosstalk between ECM and stromal CPCs, suggesting also a cautious use of non-healthy decellularized myocardium for cardiac tissue engineering approaches.This work aimed at investigating red wine olfactory-oral cross-modal interactions, and at testing their impact on the correlations between sensory and chemical variables. Seventy-four Italian red whole wines (WWs) from 10 varieties, and corresponding deodorized wines (DWs), were evaluated by sensory descriptive assessment. The Nutrition Environment Measures Surveys (NEMS) are valid and reliable measures to assess food environments. In Spain, there is no adapted instrument to measure the perceived obesogenic environment. This article aims to adapt and evaluate the Perceived Nutrition Environment Measures Survey for a Spanish context (NEMS-P-MED). The Spanish version has 32 questions to measure the perception about availability, accessibility and marketing of 3 types of environment home, shops and restaurants. We assess feasibility, construct validity and internal consistency reliability through a sample of 95 individuals. The internal consistency was acceptable for most items (Cronbach’s alpha coefficients range from 0.6 to 0.9), similar to that of the original scale. The NEMS-P-MED has been shown to be valid and, on certain items reliable, and was useful to assess the population’s perceptions of the food environment in the home, restaurants and food stores in a Spanish context. Adapting standardized measurement tools to specific contexts to assess the perceived and observed characteristics of food environments may facilitate the development of effective policy interventions to reduce excess weight.Progression of glioma is frequently characterized by increases or enhanced spread of a hyperintensity in fluid attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) sequences. However, changes in FLAIR signal over time can be subtle, and conventional (CONV) visual reading is time-consuming. The purpose of this monocentric, retrospective study was to compare CONV reading to reading of subtraction maps (SMs) for serial FLAIR imaging. FLAIR datasets of cranial 3-Tesla magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), acquired at two different time points (mean inter-scan interval 5.4 ± 1.9 months), were considered per patient in a consecutive series of 100 patients (mean age 49.0 ± 13.7 years) diagnosed with glioma (19 glioma World Health Organization [WHO] grade I and II, 81 glioma WHO grade III and IV). Two readers (R1 and R2) performed CONV and SM reading by assessing overall image quality and artifacts, alterations in tumor-associated FLAIR signal over time (stable/unchanged or progressive) including diagnostic confidence (1-very high to 5cificity (98.1% vs. 98.8%) for SM reading when compared to CONV reading. Furthermore, the time needed for SM reading was significantly lower compared to CONV assessments (p less then 0.0001). Herein, we show a novel approach to screen the polymers by overcoming the disadvantage of conventional HME screening by using a minimum quantity of active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). Vacuum Compression Molding (VCM) is a fusion-based method to form solid specimens starting from powders. This study aimed to investigate the processability of VCM for the creation of amorphous formulations and to compare its results with HME-processed formulations. Mixtures of indomethacin (IND) with drug carriers (Parteck® MXP, Soluplus®, Kollidon® VA 64, Eudragit® EPO) were processed using VCM and extrusion technology. Thermal characterization was performed using differential scanning calorimetry, and the solid-state was analyzed via X-ray powder diffraction. Dissolution studies in the simulated gastric fluid were performed to evaluate the drug release.
