In the same cell line, the hydroxamate 11 c and the anilide 10 b induced about 30 % apoptosis, and the anilide 12 c displayed about 40 % cytodifferentiation. Finally, the most potent compounds in leukemia cells 9 b, 11 c, 10 b, 10 e, and 12 c were also tested in K562, HCT116, and A549 cancer cells, displaying antiproliferative IC50 values at single-digit to sub-micromolar level.
Eating disorders (EDs) are highly comorbid with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). In order to develop treatments which better address commonly comorbid ED and OCD symptoms, it is important to identify potential shared mechanisms. Two potential shared mechanisms are maladaptive perfectionism and intolerance of uncertainty (IU). We aimed to assess how maladaptive perfectionism and IU may contribute to the maintenance of ED and OCD symptoms in individuals with EDs.
In the current study (N = 168 individuals with an ED), we analysed cross-sectional and prospective path models of maladaptive perfectionism and IU as maintenance factors of ED and OCD symptoms.
We found that IU was associated with both ED and OCD symptoms, and maladaptive perfectionism was associated with ED symptoms. We also found that maladaptive perfectionism and IU prospectively predicted OCD symptoms, but not ED symptoms.
Overall, these findings suggest that it may be beneficial to target both maladaptive perfectionism and IU in individuals with a current ED diagnosis in order to prevent the development of OCD symptoms.

New strategies to prevent and treat bacterial infections by eradication of the biofilms are urgently needed. A novel ruthenium-based compound is reported in this study that functions as both a boronic acid-decorated photosensitizer (PS) and a light-triggered nitric oxide (NO) releasing agent. The compound can selectively attach to the bacterial membrane and biofilms and it is highly potent at eradicating Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilms through the simultaneous release of NO and reactive oxygen species (ROS). The compound, which is more effective than clinical antibiotic tobramycin, also has excellent bacterial specificity and shows no significant cytotoxicity to human cells. The results reveal potential applications of this innovative dual-functional photoactivated ruthenium compound to combat bacterial biofilm infections.
This study aimed to find imaging risk features for device related-pulmonary artery (PA) injury (DR-PAI) in patients after left atrial appendage closure (LAAC).
Cardiac tamponade resulting from DR-PAI is a rare but life-threatening complication of LAAC.
In vitro analysis of Amplatzer™ Amulet™ (Abbott, MN) device was done. Measurements of the distance between PA and Amplatzer lobe at its middle part, distal part, and along the stabilizing wires’ trajectory (wires-to-PA distance) were taken in 100 consecutive patients on post-LAAC computed tomography (CT) studies. Clinical outcomes were collected.
In vitro analysis indicated that both middle and distal lobe had to be in close PA proximity (<1.5 mm) for the stabilizing wires to cause risk for DR-PAI, configuration called ”cuddling lobe orientation”. On CT measurements middle lobe-PA distance was 4.7 mm (IQR = 2.7-9.5), with close proximity in 4 (4%) patients, and distal lobe-PA distance was 3.2 mm (IQR = 1.8-7.2 mm), with close proximity in 17 (17%) patients. Stabilizing wires were pointing toward PA in 47 patients (47%) with median wire-to-PA distance 5.7 mm (IQR = 3.6-8.5 mm). ”Cuddling” was found in 2 (2%) patients and resulted in shorter wires-to-PA distance vs no ”cuddling” group (2.3 vs 5.8 mm p <.01). At 2.9 ± 1.0 yrs of follow-up, the two patients with ”cuddling lobe orientation” on post-LAAC CT scan developed late cardiac tamponades (p <.001). One of those required surgery, which confirmed DR-PAI.
”Cuddling lobe orientation” of Amulet device with the PA was associated with short wires-to-PA distance and late pericardial effusions, including DR-PAI. Hence, such device-to-PA configuration should be avoided.

To develop a postprocessing algorithm that corrects geometric distortions due to spatial variations of the static magnetic field amplitude, B
, and effects from relaxation during signal acquisition in EPI.
An analytic, complex point-spread function is deduced for k-space trajectories of EPI variants and applied to corresponding acquisitions in a resolution phantom and in human volunteers at 3 T. With the analytic point-spread function and experimental maps of B
(and, optionally, the effective transverse relaxation time,

) as input, a point-spread function matrix operator is devised for distortion correction by a Thikonov-regularized deconvolution in image space. The point-spread function operator provides additional information for an appropriate correction of the signal intensity distribution. A previous image combination algorithm for acquisitions with opposite phase blip polarities is adapted to the proposed method to recover destructively ularized deconvolution with an analytic point-spread function. The general algorithm, which is publicly released on GitHub, can be straightforwardly adapted for specific EPI variants or other acquisition schemes.Mortality data for Magellanic penguins (Spheniscus magellanicus) housed in zoos and aquariums in the United States has not previously been published. Necropsy and histopathology records were examined for Magellanic penguins housed at 12 Association of Zoos and Aquariums institutions from 2008 through 2018. If birds lived through the first year, the mean longevity was found to be 18.9 years of age (standard deviation 7.9). IKEmodulator Prefledge chicks and geriatric penguins experienced the highest mortality rates. Aspergillosis was a major cause of death in this species. There was no significant difference in mortality between males and females. Based on these data, recommendations for the husbandry and veterinary care of captive Magellanic penguins can be made.
