toms and improved quality of life. The adverse effect rate was low. However, the incidence of abscopal effects was low either. This mode was suitable for the palliative treatment and expected to improve survival for patients with metastatic tumors.
The identification of cancer-associated long noncoding RNAs and the investigation of their molecular and biological functions are important for understanding the molecular biology and progression of cancer. JAKMIP2-AS1 has not been reported in the literature, especially in the context of colorectal cancer. The aim of the present study was to examine the expression pattern of JAKMIP2-AS1 in colorectal cancer (CRC) and evaluate its biological role and clinical significance in tumor progression.
JAKMIP2-AS1 expression was analyzed in 56 CRC tissues and nine CRC cell lines by quantitative reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). Overexpression and RNA interference (RNAi) approaches were used to investigate the biological functions of JAKMIP2-AS1. The effect of JAKMIP2-AS1 on proliferation was evaluated by CCK-8, colony formation, and EdU assays. Subcutaneous injection of cells was used to study proliferation in BALB/c nude male mice. Proliferation-related protein levels were examined by immu1 may represent a new marker of poor prognosis and is a potential therapeutic target for CRC intervention.
Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play critical roles in the pathogenesis of several diseases, especially some kinds of cancer. This study aimed to investigate the expression of MTCP1-AS1 and its effects on endometrial cancer (EC).
MTCP1-AS1 expression level was determined in human EC tissues and cell lines by qRT-PCR. The role of MTCP1-AS1 on EC cell proliferation, migration, invasion and epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) was detected by CCK8, wound-healing assay, transwell assay and Western blot, respectively. Moreover, luciferase reporter assay and RNA-binding protein immunoprecipitation (RIP) assay were performed to verify the targeting relationship between miR-650, MCTP1-AS1 and SMAD7 in EC cells.
Our data showed that MCTP1-AS1 expression was downregulated in EC tissues and cell lines. Overexpression of MCTP1-AS1 inhibited cell proliferation, migration, invasion and EMT process of EC cells. buy Tosedostat Moreover, MCTP1-AS1 was proved to be the target of miR-650 and reversely correlated with its expression. In addition, MCTP1-AS1 reversed the effect of miR-650 on the EC cells, which might be associated with the role of SMAD7. Moreover, Western blot showed siRNA-SMAD7 transfection could rescue the repressed TGF-β/SMAD pathway induced by MCTP1-AS1 in EC cells.
Taken together, these data suggested that lncRNA MCTP1-AS1 inhibited cell proliferation, migration, invasion and EMT process of EC cells via targeting the miR-650/SMAD7 axis and it has the potential to be explored as a therapeutic target for the treatment of EC in the future.

Antepartum hemorrhage is a very serious problem and contributes significantly to maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality in developing countries including Ethiopia. Identification of risk factors of antepartum hemorrhage will help for prevention and control programs.
An institutional-based case-control study was conducted from July 2013 to June 2016. A simple random sampling technique was employed, and 420 mothers’ medical cards were reviewed using a pretested checklist. The data were entered in to EPI-info version 7 and then exported to SPSS version 20 for analysis, and all variables with a
-value<0.2 at bivariate logistic regression analysis were considered as a candidate for multivariate logistic regression analysis, and those variables with a
-value<0.05 in multiple logistic regression analysis were considered as significantly associated at 95% confidence interval.
Results of the multiple logistic regression showed that those mothers whose age was in the range of 35-44 years were sigtion of unwanted pregnancy to prevent abortion, pregnancy at advanced age, and to reduce the cesarean section rate should be emphasized. In various countries, approximately 80% of patients use herbal medicine, both in single form or in combination with antihypertensive drugs, for the treatment of hypertension. Therefore, this research summarized studies on the simultaneous use of herbal medicines and antihypertensive drugs among hypertensive patients in the community. A literature search was conducted on PubMed in April 2020, and the following keywords were used “herbal medicines” and “antihypertensive patients.” In total, 15 of 263 articles were found to be eligible in the initial research. Results showed that studies were performed in different countries worldwide including America and those in Europe, Asia, and Africa between 1960 and 2020. The factors associated with the use of herbal medicines and antihypertensive drugs were age, gender, education level, income, and residence. Herbal medicines and antihypertensive drugs are simultaneously utilized primarily due to their safety and high efficacy. Herbal medicine is frequently recommended by friends or colleagues, herbalists, advertisements, and health workers. Garlic is the most common herbal medicine used along with antihypertensive drugs. The side effects of combination therapy with herbal medicines and prescription drugs for the management of antihypertension include shortness of breath and cough, ulcers, diarrhea, knee cramps, and abdominal discomfort. The lack of communication between patients and health care workers could cause an increase in the simultaneous use of herbal medicines and antihypertensive drugs. Therefore, effective communication among health care workers and appropriate care are important in preventing the side effects and other risks of combined therapy.
The totally implantable venous access port (TIVAP) provides patients with safe, effective and long-term convenient venous access for the administration of medications such as chemotherapy drugs. The implantation and long-term use of TIVAP are related to thrombosis, infection and other complications. In this study, the medical records of multicentre patients were collected, and the perioperative and postoperative complications were retrospectively analysed to objectively evaluate the safety of the implantation of supraclavicular, ultrasound-guided TIVAP via the brachiocephalic vein (BCV).
We retrospectively analysed the clinical data of 433 adult patients who had undergone ultrasound-guided TIVAP implantation via the BCV at four hospitals in China from March 2018 to May 2019. The success rates of the first puncture, operation time, and perioperative and postoperative complications were analysed.
All the TIVAPs were implanted successfully (100%). The average TIVAP carrying time was 318.15 ±44.22 days (range 38-502 days) for a total of 197,694 catheter days.
