    In this review, we summarize studies examining the role of fatty acids and their metabolites in pregnancy. We also discuss the possible molecular mechanisms through which LC-PUFA influences placental growth and development. Studies have demonstrated that omega-3 fatty acid supplementation lowers the incidence of preterm births, but its effect on reducing pregnancy complications are inconclusive.Arachidonic acid (AA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) are important for neurological development. The aim was to determine the distribution and relative enrichment of AA and DHA among lipoprotein fractions prior to pregnancy, throughout gestation and in the post-partum period. Our hypothesis was that in pregnancy, in contrast to the non-pregnant state, AA and DHA are carried in highest concentration in the very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) fraction secondary to increased gestational liver triglyceride secretion. Two independent prospective, observational cohort studies carried out in Glasgow were combined; one early in pregnancy and one later in pregnancy with post-partum follow up. Across the pregnancy timeline plasma lipoproteins were isolated using sequential ultracentrifugation and lipoprotein fatty acids were extracted and analysed by gas chromatography. High density lipoprotein (HDL) had the highest concentration of AA and DHA compared to other lipoproteins. HDL became progressively enriched in the proportion of triglycerides at 16 weeks of gestation, which peaked at 35 weeks and returned to baseline at 13 weeks postpartum. HDL DHA per HDL-cholesterol and HDL DHA per apoA-I became progressively enriched at 16 weeks of gestation, peaked at 25 weeks and returned to baseline at 13 weeks postpartum, whereas HDL AA (per HDL-C or HDL-apoA-I) did not differ. DHA is carried primarily in HDL rather than VLDL. Paracetamol is widely used as an analgesic and antipyretic. Its high consumption implies a continuous discharge in aqueous environments through industrial and domestic wastewater that requires mitigation and remediation strategies. The aim of the present study was to analyse the removal of the paracetamol from aqueous solutions using the adsorption technique. For this, three commercial adsorbents with different textural properties were used two activated carbons (CAT and CARBOPAL) and silica gel. A series of batch adsorption experiments were conducted at different values of pH (3.0, 7.0 and 10.5) and ionic strength (0.01, 0.5 and 1 M) to investigate the effects on the removal of paracetamol from the aqueous solution. In addition, we investigated the adsorption mechanism using the density functional theory. Adsorption was found to be higher in the acidic pH range, as varying pH showed significant influence on the surface charge of the adsorbents and degree of ionization of the paracetamol. Adsorption capacity of the adsorbents increased with an increase in the ionic strength of solution. At 25 °C, pH 3, ionic strength 1 M, 167 mg L-1 of adsorbent and initial concentrations of paracetamol between 25 and 150 mg L-1, the maximum adsorption capacity was 560 mg g-1, 450 mg g-1 and 95 mg g-1, for CAT, CARBOPAL and silica respectively. The experimental kinetic data fitted well the pseudo-second order model and the equilibrium isotherm data the Langmuir model. The functional density theory methods provided atomistic details about paracetamol adsorbed on the surface of carbon and silica through molecular modeling.Until the 1980s, anti-drug education campaigns in the UK were rare. This article examines the reasons behind a policy shift that led to the introduction of mass media drug education in the mid 1980s.     Most research on prescription drug misuse (PDM) focuses on the misuse of specific classes of psychoactive prescription drugs among adolescents or young adults. The current research addressed important gaps in the literature by assessing poly-prescription drug misuse (poly-PDM), the misuse of more than one class of psychoactive prescription drug, across different adult age cohorts.

    We used the 2015-2018 National Survey on Drug Use and Health to examine the prevalence of past-year poly-PDM and specific combinations of PDM. Multinomial logistic regression was used to identify demographic, health-related factors, and substance use behaviors that were significantly associated with poly-PDM.

    The prevalence of poly-PDM decreases with age and is common among individuals who engage in PDM. Slightly more than one in four respondents in age cohorts 18-25 (31.66%, 95% CI=30.35, 33.00) and 26-34 (29.92%, 95% CI=25.82, 30.12) who engage in PDM, misused more than one class of prescription drug. Additionally, poly-PDM was identified as a high-risk type of PDM as roughly 60% of adults younger than 65 who endorse poly-PDM reported having a substance use disorder (SUD).
