In LRNs, WM microstructure was altered in the tracts underlying the primary motor and sensorimotor cortices. Moreover, our structural findings in WM were related to changes in functional connectivity, assessed with resting-state functional MRI data in the same cohort, through analyses in regions of interest (ROIs). Significant changes in WM microstructure were found in a ROI underlying the right supplementary motor area. Together, our findings provide evidence for highly dynamic WM plasticity in the sensorimotor network during short-term MSL.The sperm-derived oocyte activating factor, phospholipase C zeta (PLC ζ), is the only PLC isoform reported in cattle. The objectives were to (1) localize PLC ζ in fresh and capacitated bovine sperm and (2) investigate the activation of PLC ζ during bull sperm capacitation and contributions of PLC activity to this process. We confirmed interaction of testis-specific isoform of Na/K-ATPase (ATP1A4) with PLC ζ (immunolocalization and immunoprecipitation) and tyrosine phosphorylation (immunoprecipitation) of PLC ζ (a post-translational protein modification commonly involved in activation of PLC in somatic cells) during capacitation. Furthermore, incubation of sperm under capacitating conditions upregulated PLC-mediated hyperactivated motility, tyrosine phosphoprotein content, acrosome reaction, and F-actin formation (flow cytometry), implying that PLC activity is enhanced during capacitation and contributing to these capacitation processes. In conclusion, we inferred that PLC ζ is activated during capacitation by tyrosine phosphorylation through a mechanism involving ATP1A4, contributing to capacitation-associated biochemical events.
A diagnosis of secondary lymphedema following cancer treatment can necessitate lifelong therapy. Indocyanine green (ICG) lymphography is a technique for visualising lymphatics to enable individualised lymphedema diagnosis, staging and therapy prescription. The participant experience of undergoing the procedure and the impact of imaging findings on lymphedema management is unknown. This study aimed to explore participant’s experiences of ICG lymphography to inform cancer-related lymphedema therapy.
A qualitative phenomenological study was conducted using semi-structured interviews with 17 adult participants who had undergone ICG lymphography for stage 0 to 2 upper or lower limb secondary cancer-related lymphedema (International Society of Lymphology, Lymphology 53(1)3-10, 2020).
Seventeen participants were included in the study ranging in age from 36 to 78years (M = 53.8years), the majority hada primary diagnosis of breast cancer (N = 7) or melanoma (N = 7). Three overarching themes emerged. Firstly, desof mind about management plans, leading to feeling more empowered to self-manage their condition.
This study explored cancer survivors’ views and experiences of receiving physical activity advice post-diagnosis. We also determined the influence of sociodemographic characteristics on the recall of physical activity advice and whether receiving advice was associated with meeting physical activity guidelines.
An anonymised, mixed-methods, 27-item survey was distributed to cancer survivors via online cancer communities in the UK.
Of the 242 respondents, 52% recalled receiving physical activity advice. Acetosyringone supplier Of those who recalled receiving advice, only 30% received guidance on type of physical activity and 14% were referred to another source of information or exercise specialist. Advice was most often given after treatment cessation, with only 19% of respondents receiving advice during active treatment. Most respondents (56%) expressed a need for further information. There was no evidence of associations between sociodemographic characteristics and recall of physical activity advice. However, cancer survivors roups.
Currently there is no consensus how hindfoot alignment (HA) should be assessed in CBCT scans. The aim of this study is to investigate how the reliability is affected by the anatomical structures chosen for the measurement.
Datasets consisting of a Saltzman View (SV) and a CBCT of the same foot were acquired prospectively and independently assessed by five raters regarding HA. In SVs the HA was estimated as follows transversal shift between tibial shaft axis and heel contact point (1); angle between tibial shaft axis and a tangent at the medial (2) or lateral (3) calcaneal wall. In CBCT the HA was estimated as follows transversal shift between the centre of the talus and the heel contact point (4); angle between a perpendicular line and a tangent at the medial (5) or lateral (6) calcaneal wall; angle between the distal tibial surface and a tangent at the medial calcaneal wall (7). Intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC) were calculated to assess inter-rater reliability. A linear regression was performed 7) was shown to be unreliable, whereas determining the weight-bearing heel point (1, 4) appeared to be a reliable approach. The correlation of the measurement workflows is significant (p = 0.036), but too weak (0.272) to be used clinically.
To identify the optimal artery-based method for ordinal grading of coronary artery calcium (CAC) on non-electrocardiogram (ECG)-gated low-dose chest computed tomography (LDCT) among three methods.
A total of 120 asymptomatic subjects who underwent both LDCT and ECG-gated calcium scoring CT on the same day were retrospectively enrolled. Three cardiothoracic radiologists independently assessed CAC severity on LDCT (1.25-mm and 2.5-mm slice thickness) and classified it into four categories (none, mild, moderate, or severe) using three artery-based ordinal scoring methods (extent-based scoring, Weston scoring, and length-based scoring). Inter- and intra-observer CAC severity agreements of each method were assessed by Fleiss kappa statistics. Agreements between each method and ECG-gated calcium scoring CT were assessed by weighted kappa statistics.
The inter-observer agreement was highest with length-based method for both 1.25-mm (Fleiss kappa 0.735 for extent-based method, 0.801 for Weston score, and 0.813 for length-based method) and 2.
