Thus, IL-8 +781C/T (rs2227306) polymorphism and the level of intraocular IL-8 may be useful as a biomarker for early detection and a therapeutic target of AMD.

This meta-analysis suggests that patients with AMD or wet AMD have higher IL-8 levels compared to control, which is also supported by the evidence that carrier T allele of rs2227306 exhibited an increase in the risk of AMD or wet AMD. Thus, IL-8 +781C/T (rs2227306) polymorphism and the level of intraocular IL-8 may be useful as a biomarker for early detection and a therapeutic target of AMD.The most cases of persistence hyperplastic primary vítreous (PHPV) are unilateral and sporadic, however, bilateral presentation could be present in a small number of patients, in whom other genetic diseases must be ruled out. We describe a case of a 2 months child with bilateral persistence hyperplastic primary vítreous confirmed by ultrasound. In addition, with neurodevelopmental defects, microcephaly, facial dimorphism, axial hypotonia, and without brain abnormalities on MRI, in whom a de novo mutation of the CTNNB1 gene was found during the genetic study, which explains the findings.

Total pancreatectomy with islet autotransplantation is a therapeutic surgical option for patients with chronic pancreatitis leading to significant reduction in pain, improvement in quality of life, and potential for preservation of partial to full endocrine function. Data on the factors associated with short-term morbidities are limited.

We queried the American College of Surgeons National Surgery Quality Improvement Project for patients undergoing total pancreatectomy with islet autotransplantation from 2005 to 2015. We determined 30-day morbidity and mortality and performed univariate and multivariate analysis to determine the preoperative and intraoperative factors associated with development of postoperative infectious complications.

The rate of 30-day postoperative morbidity in 384 patients undergoing total pancreatectomy with islet autotransplantation was 36% with an overall mortality of 1%. Postoperative infectious complications developed in 29% of patients and were associated with increased operprocedure.

Hypovolemia or excess fluid load during kidney transplantation may have detrimental effects on the recipient and graft. The aim of our survey was to examine hemodynamic monitoring during kidney transplantation (KT) in French KT centers.

The online survey covered the organization of anesthesia, the type of hemodynamic monitoring available in each center, the frequency of use of each hemodynamic parameter, and the hemodynamic algorithm used to manage fluid administration.

Twenty-four centers answered the survey (70% of all the 34 French KT centers) and reported performing 2029 KTs in 2016. Anesthesia for KT was performed either by a general team (n= 12, 48%) or less often, by a specific team during open hours (n= 7, 28%), a specific 24-hour/24-hour team (n= 5, 20%), or an emergency team (n= 1, 4%). The centers reported that up to 8 different hemodynamic monitoring techniques were available for KT. Central venous pressure (CVP) is the most frequently used hemodynamic parameter (1278 KT, 63%). Among the 17 centers using CVP monitoring, 9 had no specific algorithm and the other 8 centers used a different algorithm to manage fluids with CVP. The total fluids administered during KT varied from 1000 mL to 3500 mL.

CVP was still the main hemodynamic parameter used in France during KT in 2016. Our results suggest that a large randomized controlled trial should be performed to specifically address the question of hemodynamic management during KT.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the optical properties of supra-nano spherical fillers with different diameters and the color matching ability of resin composites (RC) incorporating these fillers.

    Two types of SiO

    -ZrO

nano fillers with different diameters (150nm and 260nm) were used. The size distribution of each filler was measured and filler morphology was observed. The colors and spectral reflection spectra were measured by a spectral reflectometer. Experimental RCs incorporating ϕ150-nm/ϕ260-nm filler (D150RC/D260RC) were prepared. For the base dentin part, disc specimens (Estelite Astelia A1B, A2B, A3B, A3.5B, or A4B) were prepared with a cylindrical cavity. Estelite Astelia with NE shade was layered on top as the enamel layer. Disk specimens with different cavity depths were prepared using A3B shade. Experimental RC was used to fill the cavity, and spectral reflection spectrums were obtained and analyzed. Filtek Supreme Ultra (FSU) with A3B shade was used (n=10) as a control.

D260RC producing structural color demonstrated a broad spectrum and reduction in brightness and chromatic value by adapting to surrounding restorative materials, suggesting its ability to enhance the chameleon (blending) effects to improve color matching. OSI930 D260RC showed better color matching ability than resin composite containing uniformly sized ϕ150-nm SiO2-ZrO2 supra-nano spherical filler.

According to Bandura’s theory, understanding the relationship of traits and leader self-efficacy in the various roles of nursing can aid in leader development and the growth of the profession.

The purpose of this study was to explore the perceptions of leader self-efficacy of academic nursing professionals to determine if traits and participation in certain activities was predictive of leader self-efficacy.

A validated survey tool, the Leader Efficacy Questionnaire (LEQ) was administered to nursing professionals using snowball sampling from publicly available email addresses.

Statistical significance was found between the academic degrees and the 4 scores of the LEQ. Overall, the participants reported moderate to high leader self-efficacy with an LEQ overall score (LSME) of 70 or greater.

The dynamic challenges of health care require an understanding of nursing professionals’ leader self-efficacy in light of their academic preparation and activities to grow the profession.
