RPDP National Board Writing Workshop 4: Review, Respond, and Edit

Series Purpose: To assist National Board candidates in the thinking and writing involved in completing Components 2 – 4 of the National Board Certification process. This series of 2-hour workshops will address the thinking, analyzing, reflecting, and writing demands of Components 2 – 4. Instruction will be a blend of lecture, online, whole class and small group discussion, and peer writing review and response. A writing workshop approach will be taken, so participants will read and respond to colleagues writing and instructional videos. Optional: Participants may earn 4 CUs if they attend all four workshops and complete an additional four hours of homework online (12 hours).

Workshop 4: Review, Respond, and Edit – The fourth workshop is for participants who would like to participate in a guided peer review of their videos and written work. Participants will bring their own work and will share with colleagues.

Series Outcomes: Through direct instruction, discussion, and collaboration with colleagues, National Board Candidates will

• Understand and apply the thinking and writing involved in the National Board certification process.
• Develop and refine descriptive, analytic, and reflective writing skills.
• Apply, refine, analyze, and reflect on formative and summative assessment practices.
• Work in collaborative response groups to revise and edit Components 2 – 4.
