Here we describe six approaches that capture three core focus areas for lipidomics (1) lipidome annotation including a resolvable database identifier, (2) interpretation via pathway- and enrichment-based methods, and (3) understanding complex interactions to emphasize specific steps in the analytical process and highlight challenges in analyses associated with the complexity of lipidome data.

Independently, two radiologists blinded from both the surgical and the preoperative imaging reports, sequentially performed PTA localisation starting with either [A] or [V], thereafter [A + N] or [V + N] and finally with the complete [A + N + S] or [V + N + S]. PTA localisation was reported for each image-set. The readers results were combined and the diagnostic performance for each image set was determined. Sensitivity was also calculated for the different quartiles of PTA weight distribution.

Health administrative databases are essential to define patient populations, make socioeconomic predictions, and facilitate medical research and healthcare planning. The accuracy of this data is dependent on valid codes/coding algorithms.
The aim of this study was to systematically identify and summarize the validity of International Classification of Diseases (ICD) codes for identifying patients with cirrhosis in administrative data.
Electronic databases, MEDLINE (via Ovid), EMBASE (via Ovid), the Web of Science, and CINAHL (via EBSCOhost), were searched for validation studies which compared ICD codes related to cirrhosis to a clinical reference standard, and reported statistical measures of performance.
Fourteen studies were included in the review. There was a large variation in the algorithms used to validate ICD codes to diagnose cirrhosis. Despite the variation, the positive predictive value (PPV) was greater than 84% and the specificity was greater than 75% in the majority of the studies. The negative predictive value (NPV) was lower, but still was associated with values greater than 70% in the majority of studies. Sensitivity data varied significantly with values ranging from 0.27 to 99%.

This study explores the self-medication practices of Pakistani mothers for their children and their reasons for self-medication. We interviewed 23 immigrants. Each interview lasted 60-80 min and was conducted in Urdu. Participants had been living in New Zealand on average 3.25 years. They talked about their prior knowledge and experiences regarding self-medication behaviour for their children. The majority of the mothers treat their children at home before visiting a general practitioner (GP) due to previous unsatisfactory experiences. There was a significant relationship between participants who had family members in healthcare professions, their experiences of healthcare services and self-medication. Bringing medicines from Pakistan is a key source for self-medication practices. Self-medication awareness programs could help mothers to practice safe and responsible use of medicines for the benefit of their children.A straw coloured, motile and Gram-stain-negative bacterium, designated RP-1-19T was isolated from soil of Arctic station, Svalbard, Norway. Based on the phylogenetic analysis of its 16S rRNA gene sequence, strain RP-1-19T formed a lineage within the family Oxalobacteraceae and clustered together within the genus Massilia. The closest members were M. violaceinigra B2T (98.6% sequence similarity), M. eurypsychrophilia JCM 30074T (98.3%) and M. atriviolacea SODT (98.1%). The only respiratory quinone was ubiquinone-8. The principal cellular fatty acids were summed feature 3 (iso-C150 2-OH/C161ω7c) and C160. The major polar lipids were phosphatidylethanolamine, diphosphatidylglycerol and phosphatidylglycerol. The DNA G + C content of the type strain was 63.2%. The average nucleotide identity and in silico DNA-DNA hybridization values between strain RP-1-19T and closest members were ≤ 80 and 23.2%, respectively. The genome was 4,522,469 bp long with 30 scaffolds and 4076 protein-coding genes. The genome showed eight putative biosynthetic gene clusters responsible for various secondary metabolites. Genome analysis revealed the presence of cold-shock proteins CspA and CspC. SW033291 Presence of cspA and cspC genes in the genome manifest ecophysiology of strain RP-1-19T that may help in cold-adaptation. Based on these data, strain RP-1-19T represents a novel species in the genus Massilia, for which the name Massilia polaris sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is RP-1-19T (= KACC 21619T = NBRC 114359T).
The ICECAP-A and ICECAP-O were validated as capability wellbeing measures of adults aged 18 + and 65 + years, respectively. We aimed to compare their measurement properties in age group 50-70.
Data were derived from a cross-sectional survey among a sample representative for the adult Hungarian population. Respondents aged between 50 and 70 filled in both the ICECAP-A and ICECAP-O questionnaires. We assessed and compared feasibility, agreement, discriminatory power, convergent and content validity of the two instruments and explored the determinants of the differences between the two measures.
707 respondents (99.4%) provided full answers to both questionnaires (46.3% women, average age 60.1years). The instruments showed similar construct and convergent validity and discriminatory power. Pearson-correlations between instrument items were strong (r > 0.5). ICECAP-A and ICECAP-O scores could be calculated from each other with a good confidence (R
