    This study investigates the relationship between multidisciplinary team care (MDTC) and patient completion of their treatment regimen for oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC).

    We conducted a retrospective cohort study in patients diagnosed with OSCC in Taiwan from 1 January 2016 to 30 June 2018 using a linked cancer registry database.

    Of the 969 OSCC MDTC patients in the study cohort, 6.3% reported incomplete treatment, with 1.3% interrupting ongoing treatment and 5.0% terminating definitive treatment. Patients who had advanced-stage disease, experienced primary cancer recurrence or a secondary cancer, or were treated with surgery combined with chemotherapy, radiotherapy or chemoradiotherapy were more likely to terminate treatment before completion. The major reasons for interruption of ongoing treatment included ‘patient or their family considered the patient to be in poor physical condition’ and ‘difficulty enduring physical discomfort caused by treatment’. The major reason for termination of definitive treatment was ‘patient or their families or friends experienced negative treatment effects and worried about the side-effects of treatment’.

    To evaluate the associations of combinations of sarcopenia and adiposity phenotypes with 10-year cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk scores in cancer survivors and non-cancer participants.

The mid-fusiform sulcus (MFS), a minor feature of the ventral occipitotemporal cortex, provides new directions for studying face processing. The MFS closely aligns with face-selective cortical patches and other structural and functional divisions of the fusiform gyrus; however, it has received little attention in clinical populations. We collected structural MRI data from 54 individuals with ASD and 61 age-and-IQ-matched controls ages 8 to 40 years. The MFS was identified on cortical surface reconstructions via 4 trained raters and classified into known surface patterns. Mean MFS gray matter volume (GMV), cortical surface area (SA), cortical thickness (CT), and standard deviation of CT (CT SD) were extracted. Effects of diagnosis, age, and hemisphere on MFS surface presentation and morphometry were assessed via multinomial logistic regression and mixed effects general linear mohave thinner and less variable MFS. Green tea is a common and easily accessible beverage, and evidences show that flavonoid epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) could decrease bone loss in pathologies such as osteoporosis and periodontal disease. In order to verify its possible effects and apply them in the treatment and prevention of these diseases, this investigation aimed to evaluate the influence of green tea extract (GTE) on bone metabolism of ovariectomized rats after experimental periodontal disease (EPD) by histological, morphological and microtomographic parameters. Wistar female rats were divided into Sham, Sham + EPD, Sham + EPD + GTE, OVX, OVX + EPD and OVX + EPD + GTE groups. Immediately after surgery, gavage administration of 50 mg/kg of green tea extract (GTE) was performed for 60 days, with subsequent induction of periodontal disease by ligature 15 days before euthanasia. Histological and morphometric analysis showed a significant decrease in alveolar and femoral trabecular bone loss in groups that received GTE. The results obtained suggest that green tea extract may improve bone metabolism in osteoporotic rats with periodontal disease.
