The intestinal microbiota and metabolites play an important role in human health and immunity. However, few studies have investigated the long-term effects of stachyose on the human intestinal microbiota and metabolism. Therefore, in this study, the feces of infants were transplanted into germ-free mice, and the effect of long-term stachyose intake on intestinal metabolism was examined by comparing the results of microbiome and metabolome analyses. Ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS) was used to study the effects of stachyose intake on the metabolites and metabolic pathways of the transplanted human intestinal microbiota.
We observed that stachyose significantly altered the composition of the intestinal microbiota and metabolites, up-regulated production of the metabolite taurocholic acid, down-regulated amino acid metabolism, and significantly regulated the metabolism of taurine and hydroxytaurine, pantothenate and coenzyme A (CoA) biosynthesis, and other signaling pathways.

Here, we describe a case of congenital generalized infantile myofibromatosis which presented with diffuse hypopigmented macules, some with subtle atrophy and telangiectasia. Further workup revealed visceral involvement which led to treatment with systemic chemotherapy. Awareness of this rare clinical presentation is crucial to expedite workup and treatment given the poor prognosis in infants with visceral involvement.Fibroepithelial polyps are common tumors of mesodermal origin. However, only a few case reports of giant fibroepithelial polyps have been published, and they have mainly involved adults. This case report describes a 3-month-old boy with a pedunculated mass in the scrotum. To our knowledge, this is the first report of a giant congenital fibroepithelial polyp on this location.
This study aims to evaluate allograft and patient outcomes among recipients of kidney transplants after non-renal solid organ transplants. We also aim to compare our findings with recipients of a repeat kidney transplant.
We performed an analysis on kidney transplant recipients who underwent kidney transplantation after a non-renal solid organ transplant. Survival data were stratified into 2 groups Group A (n=37) consisted of recipients of a kidney transplant after prior non-renal solid organ transplant, and Group B (n=330) consisted of recipients of a repeat kidney transplant.
The 1-,5-, and 10-year graft survival (death-censored) for recipients of a kidney transplant post-non-renal solid organ transplant (Group A) were 97.3%, 91.5%, and 86.9%, compared with 97.9%, 90.2%, and 83.4% for recipients of a repeat kidney transplant (Group B) (p=.32). The 1-, 5-, and 10-year patient survival rates were 97.3%, 82.7%, and 79.1% in Group A compared to 97.9%, 90.2%, and 83.4% in Group B. Unadjusted overall patient survival was significantly lower for Group A (p=.017).

On day 7 of each treatment period, caecal digesta was collected every 2h for 12h and analysed for pH and VFA. Data were analysed using mixed ANOVA with repeated measures, fixed effects of treatment and time and random effects of horse and period.
