Rhodanine derivative LJ001 has been verified to be effective against some enveloped virus infections in vitro. In this study, we evaluated the antiviral activity of LJ001 towards TGEV and PDCoV replication on swine testicular(ST) cells. Our results showed the 50 % cellular cytotoxicity (CC50) value of LJ001 was 146.4 μM on ST cell. The virus titers of TGEV and PDCoV were obviously decreased in the presence of LJ001 with the concentrations of 3.125 and 12.5 μM, and LJ001 potently inhibited TGEV and PDCoV infection at the replication stages of viral life cycle. Further study indicated that LJ001 inhibited TGEV and PDCoV replication by inhibition of viral RNA and protein synthesis, and reducing virus yields at 12 and 24 h post-inoculation. These data indicated that LJ001 had antiviral activities on TGEV and PDCoV replications in vitro, which may serve as a new candidate for treatment of coronaviruses infections.Adhesion of calcium oxalate (CaOx) crystals onto renal tubular epithelial cells is one of the critical steps in kidney stone formation. However, effects of crystal size on the crystal adhesive capability remained unclear. This study compared the adhesive capabilities of CaOx monohydrate (COM) crystals with various sizes (80 μm). Atomic force microscopy (AFM) revealed that adhesive forces between carboxylic-immobilized AFM tip and COM crystal surface and between COM-mounted AFM tip and renal epithelial cell surface were size-dependent (greater for the larger crystals). In summary, the adhesive capability of COM crystals is size-dependent – the larger the greater adhesive capability. Keeping in perspective, present study aims to report the glycation induced structural and functional modification of a cystatin type isolated from rai mustard seeds, using RSC-glucose and RSC-ribose as model system. Among the sugars studied, ribose was found to be most potent glycating agent as evident from different biophysical assays. During the course of incubation, RSC was observed to pass through a series of structural intermediates as revealed by circular dichroism, altered intrinsic fluorescence and high ANS binding.     To assess US radiation oncologists’ views on practice scope and the ideal role of the radiation oncologist (RO), the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) conducted a scope of practice survey.

    In spring 2019, ASTRO distributed an online survey to 3822 US RO members. The survey generated 984 complete responses (26% response rate) for analysis. Face validity testing confirmed respondents were representative of ASTRO’s RO membership.

    Nearly all respondents agreed that “ROs should be leaders in oncologic care.” Respondents indicated the ideal approach to patient care was to provide “an independent opinion on radiation therapy and other treatment options” (82.5%) or “an independent opinion on radiation therapy but not outside of it” (16.1%), with only 1.4% favoring provision of “radiation therapy at the request of the referring physician” as the ideal approach. Actual practice fully matched the ideal approach in 18.2% of respondents. For the remaining majority, actual practice did not always match the ideal and comprised a mix of approaches that included providing radiation at the referring physician’s request 24.
