While most of the research has focused on the biomechanical and clinical outcomes affected by gait modification, the process of learning these new gait patterns has received little attention. Without adequate learning, it is unlikely that the modification will be performed in daily life, limiting the likelihood of long-term benefit. There is a vast body of literature examining motor learning, though little has involved gait modifications, especially in populations with musculoskeletal conditions. The studies that have examined gait modifications in these populations are often limited due to incomplete reporting and study design decisions that prohibit strong conclusions about motor learning. This perspective draws on evidence from the broader motor learning literature for application in the context of modifying gait. Where possible, specific gait modification examples are included to highlight the current literature and what can be improved on going forward. Ascorbic acid, dehydroascorbic acid, and total vitamin C were determined by HILIC-HPLC-UV, while soluble solids and total acidity were evaluated by standard analytical procedures. Partial least squares regression (PLSR) was used to build regression models which revealed suitable performance regarding the prediction of quality and ripeness parameters in all tested fruits. Models for ascorbic acid, dehydroascorbic acid, total vitamin C, soluble solids, total acidity, and juiciness showed Rcv2 = 0.77-0.87, Rcv2 = 0.29-0.79, Rcv2 = 0.77-0.86, Rcv2 = 0.75-0.97, Rcv2 = 0.24-0.92, and Rcv2 = 0.38-0.75, respectively. Prediction models of oranges and Tahiti limes showed good to excellent performance regarding all tested conditions. The resulting models confirmed that NIRS technology is a time- and cost-effective approach for predicting citrus fruit quality, which can easily be used by the various stakeholders from the citrus industry.

The form of brachial plexus neuritis the patient was diagnosed with was Parsonage-Turner Syndrome, a rare condition often resistant to traditional physical therapy, typically persists for six months to years, at times requiring surgical intervention. This case report is unique because it is the first to utilize Positional Release Therapy for its treatment and one which resolved more quickly than typically reported.
Limited health literacy (LHL) is associated with multiple adverse health outcomes in chronic kidney disease (CKD). Interventions are needed to improve this situation, but evidence on intervention targets and strategies is lacking. This systematic review aims to identify potential targets and strategies by summarizing the evidence on (i) patient- and system-level factors potentially mediating the relation between LHL and health outcomes; and (ii) the effectiveness of health literacy interventions customized to CKD patients.
We performed a systematic review of peer-reviewed research articles in Medline, Embase and Web of Science, 2009-19. We assessed the quality of the studies and conducted a best-evidence synthesis.
We identified 860 publications and included 48 studies. Most studies were of low quality (n = 26) and focused on dialysis and transplantation (n = 38). We found strong evidence for an association of LHL with smoking and having a suboptimal transplantation process. Evidence was weak for associations between LHL and a variety of factors related to self-care management (n = 25), utilization of care (n = 23), patient-provider interaction (n = 8) and social context (n = 5).
