    This study focused on the valorization of the date syrup obtained from low-quality date fruits to be used as a low-cost alternative medium for producing single cell oil (SCO) by Rhodotorula glutinis PTCC5256, which could further be converted into biodiesel. The higher C/N ratio of date syrup (C/N 70) led to restricting the formation of cell biomass and enhancing the biosynthesis of SCO. The maximal cell biomass and lipid productivities were obtained 72 mg/L/h and 17 mg/L/h by C/N ratios of 20 and 70, respectively. Although the obtained biodiesel met the international standards for cold filter plugging point (4.92 °C), iodine value (87.22 g I2/100 g oil), cetane number (52.26), higher heating value (40.19 MJ/kg), cloud point (6.29 °C), pour point (0.00 °C), density (878 kg/m3), kinematic viscosity (4.30 mm2/s) and oxidation stability (7.87 h), its weak cold-flow properties might limit its application in cold areas in comparison with diesel fuel.The aim of this study was to design a Trichoderma atroviride-specific qPCR oligo set, evaluate its specificity, and standardize a methodology that quantifies antagonism against Botrytis cinerea in blackberry fruits (Rubus adenotrichos Schltdl.). Primers and probe were designed based on the nuclear translation elongation factor 1-alpha (tef1-α) of T. atroviride. A commercial IGS-based oligo set was used to quantify B. cinerea. The specificity of the designed oligo set, along with ITS-based oligo sets, was assessed using other Trichoderma species and B. cinerea. Multiplex qPCR assays were performed using DNA from B. cinerea, T. atroviride, and blackberries inoculated with these fungi. Assays with the tef1-α oligo set showed high sensitivity and reproducibility. In inoculated fruits, T. atroviride and B. cinerea were quantified simultaneously, including in symptomless tissues. This work standardized a qPCR methodology that specifically targets a T. atroviride isolate. This newly-designed qPCR oligo set could be useful in future biological control programs.(3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTES) is a commonly used organosilane on surface functionalization of silicon oxide surfaces. In this work, we propose a facile synthetic route for functionalizing a silicon substrate with APTES via solution-phase approach using only solvents that are classified as recommended. The influence of the APTES concentration, reaction times and different post-deposition conditions using acetic acid and methanol were studied in order to evaluate the quality and thickness of the organosilane layers.•The method uses ethanol as APTES solvent for functionalizing silicon dioxide surfaces and only uses solvents classified as recommended.•The method uses a solution phase approach, does not require complicated equipment and can be prepared at room temperature.To examine hemispheric differences in accessing a mental representation that embodies perceptual elements and their spatial relationships (i.e., perceptual elaboration and integration), we developed a cross-modal perceptual elaboration paradigm (PEP) in which an imagined percept, rather than a propositional concept, determined congruency. Three target image conditions allow researchers to test which mental representation is primarily accessed when the target is laterally presented. For example, the “Integrated” condition is congruent with either propositional or perceptual mental representations; therefore, results from both hemifield conditions (RVF/LH vs. LVF/RH) should be comparable. Cardiotocography (CTG) showed an absence of foetal heart rate (FHR) acceleration and moderate FHR variability. Daily CTG demonstrated an absence of FHR acceleration. A male newborn was delivered by caesarean section, weighing 2492 g, which is appropriate for gestational age; the Apgar scores at 1 and 5 min were 6 and 6, respectively, and the umbilical artery pH was 7.295. The newborn exhibited marked hypotonia, lack of sucking, and cryptorchidism. FISH analysis performed due to severe hypotonia showed 46, XY. Ish del (15) (q11. 2q 11.2), which led to the diagnosis of PWS. Discussion Polyhydramnios and abnormal FHR patterns may be associated with feeding difficulty and hypotonia. These signs may be an indication for antenatal molecular genetic testing to diagnose PWS.Background Visible genital warts are caused by the nearly 100 recognized strains of human papillomavirus (HPV). HPV infections caused by high-risk strains are associated with significant morbidity and mortality rates. Genital warts are diagnosed by visual inspection and treated by three major methods topical agents, systemic agents, and surgical therapies. CO2 laser ablation is the best treatment option for warts that present as refractory, thick, extensive lesions. CO2 ablation offers benefits such as a painless procedure, increased clearance rate, lesser side-effects and decreased pain. Case presentation An 18-year old patient was referred to the obstetric/gynecology clinic and presented with severe urinary complications. She complained of dysuria, frequency, vaginal irritation, and spraying while voiding. Physical exam was within normal limits; however, genital examination revealed a 3 cm fungating mass corresponding to a large genital wart at the urethral meatus and peri-urethral area. Due to her progressing symptomatology, CO2 laser ablation therapy was advised.
