UV-H2O2 is the most widely used oxidizing system with established effectiveness and a high level of technical development for practical application. However, little attention was paid on the effect of suspended particles in natural water on organic contaminants removal via UV-H2O2 technique. In this study, this effect of suspended particles to enhance the contaminant degradation was explored using silica/alumina-based oxides (MCM-41 and Al@MCM-41) as the representative. The results showed that MCM-41 had no effect on OFX degradation compared with UV-H2O2. While the degradation efficiency and reaction rate were greatly enhanced at a pH range of 3.0-9.0 especially at acidic pH values (3.0-5.0) in the presence of Al@MCM-41. this website The probe experiments proved that OFX adsorption followed by surface reaction process played an important role to enhance the performance of UV-H2O2. Based on the characterization results, the positive effect of suspended particles was not related to their surface area and pore size distribution, but dependent on the chemical composition and surface acid-base property. The suspended particles can provide an active surface composed of acid and base sites. The base site can create a local basic micro-environment by producing more •OH et al. While the dissociated acid sites in Al@MCM-41 with a negative charged surface favor OFX adsorption and then reaction with produced ROS. Our findings suggest that the enhanced performance of UVA-H2O2 induced by suspended particles should be concerned.Lemon essential oils (LEO), as natural bacteriostatic agents, show significant loss in the preparation processes of food packaging materials, therefore, an effective encapsulation of LEO is urgent for realizing the protection. In this study, LEO was absorbed by thermally stable and porous vermiculite (VML) to form LEO/VML complex, which is further coupled with konjac glucomannan-grafted-poly (acrylic acid)/polyvinyl alcohol (KGM-g-PAA/PVA) composite. KGM-g-PAA/PVA bacteriostatic water-absorbing pad was prepared via electrospinning technique, which can minimize the loss of LEO. The VML (1 g) can significantly reduce LEO loss and achieve sustained control LEO release from the pad, which follows the predominant mechanism of Fick diffusion law. The sustained control LEO release from the pad can effectively inhibit the growth of E. coli during storage, thus prolonging shelf life of chilled pork for 3 day. This study suggests that KGM-g-PAA/PVA pad may have a great potential in the field of intelligent packaging.
Palliative sedation is used as a last-resort option to treat refractory symptoms of dying patients. Nurses are important participants in the process of sedation. However, little is known about palliative sedation from a nursing perspective.
To analyze the practices and attitudes of nurses concerning palliative sedation.
A scoping review guided by Arksey and O`Malley`s methodological framework was used to analyze existing peer-reviewed empirical research on the topic of the practices and attitudes of nurses related to the palliative sedation of patients aged 18 years and older. Of the 316 publications identified from the PubMed, CINAHL and Cochrane Library, 17 full-text articles were included in this review. The data of the included articles were charted (author(s), year of publication, country, objectives, study design, data collection, setting, respondents, definition of palliative sedation, focus of the study and key findings), and the results were summarized with inductive content analysis. The PRISMpractices and attitudes of nurses regarding palliative sedation.Human-induced pluripotent stem cell lines (hiPSCs) derived from the peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of a woman (CMCi007-A) and her son (CMCi006-A) diagnosed with Fabry disease (FD) caused by the frameshift deletion mutation c.969delC in the alpha-galactosidase A (GLA) gene were generated. These hiPSCs showed typical human embryonic stem cell-like morphology and expressed pluripotency-associated markers, and directly differentiated into all three germ-layers. Karyotyping showed normal 46, XY (CMCi006-A) and 46, XX (CMCi007-A). In summary, we generated novel patient-specific hiPSC lines from both a female and male containing the same mutation, which may provide additional insight into the pathophysiology of FD.The gene mutations of the chloride channel gene (CLCN5) can lead to the inherited X-linked Dent disease (X-Dent). The urine cells of a 4-year-old male X-Dent patient with the hemizygous CLCN5 gene mutation p.R718* (c.2152C > T) were reprogrammed into induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) using integration free Sendai virus reprogramming system. The generated iPSCs stably expressed pluripotent stem cell markers and can be induced to differentiate into three germ layers in vitro. The karyotype of the generated iPSCs was normal (46, XY).
Cervical spine instability is the key pathogenic factor for cervical spondylosis, which may easily cause cervical spinal cord nerve compression, numbness, weakness, and even paralysis of the limbs. The reconstruction of the internal fixation of the cervical spine is of great therapeutic significance, but is a high-risk and difficult procedure that requires precise planning. The high similarities between vertebrae may interfere with automatic operation planning; therefore, the segmentation of vertebrae is of great significance.
Our segmentation algorithm has 3 parts. Firstly, an adaptive threshold filter to segment the cervical vertebra tissue structure form CT images. Secondly, segmentation of single vertebrae based on PointNet++ is introduced to segmentation cervical spine. Finally, converge segmentation which is based on edge information is utilized to clearly distinguish the edges of the two vertebrae to enhance the accuracy segmentation result.
Our approach improved the accuracy of the system up to body can be used in automatic biomechanical analysis, computer-aided diagnosis and other aspects, so as to improve the level of automation in the treatment of cervical spondylosis.Foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV), which causes a highly contagious viral disease of cloven-hoofed animals, is notable for epithelial cell tropism, resulting in the appearance of vesicles on the feet and in and around the mouth in infected animals, while FMDV infection in neonatal animals is also associated with not only epithelial lesions, but also muscle-associated lesions, which leads to myocarditis, resulting in high-mortality. However, critical knowledge about the non-epithelial tropism of FMDV is still lacking. In this paper, the current progress of the FMDV non-epithelial tropisms is summarized and the possible role of the key viral and cellular components involved is discussed.
