Boys with fragile X syndrome (FXS), a leading monogenic cause of intellectual disability, often display repetitive behaviors, a core feature of autism. By direct observation and manual analysis, we characterized spontaneous-motor-behavior phenotypes of Drosophila dfmr1 mutants, an established model for FXS. We recorded individual 1-day-old adult flies, with mature nervous systems and prior to the onset of aging, in small arenas. We scored behavior using open-source video-annotation software to generate continuous activity timelines, which were represented graphically and quantitatively. Young dfmr1 mutants spent excessive time grooming, with increased bout number and duration; both were rescued by transgenic wild-type dfmr1+ . By two grooming-pattern measures, dfmr1-mutant flies showed elevated repetitions consistent with perseveration, which is common in FXS. Recently, low dose radiotherapy delivered to the whole lung has been proposed as treatment for the pneumonia due to COVID-19. Although there is biological plausibility for its use, the evidence supporting its effectiveness is scarce, and the risks associated with it may be significant. Thus, based on a virtual case simulation, we estimated the risks of radiation-induced cancer (RIC) and cardiac disease.
Lifetime attributable risks (LAR) of RIC were calculated for the lung, liver, esophagus, and breast of female patients. The cardiovascular risk of exposure-induced death (REID) due to ischemic heart disease was also calculated. The doses received by the organs involved in the treatment were obtained from a simulation of conformal radiotherapy (RT) treatment, delivering a dose of 0.5 Gy-1.5 Gy to the lungs. We considered a LAR and REID <1% as acceptable, 1-2% cautionary, and >2% unacceptable.
The lung was at the highest risk for RIC (absolute LAR below 5200 cases/100,000 and 2250 cases/100,000 for wr RIC and REID, irrespective of sex and age. The current ongoing trials should initially use doses ≤0.5 Gy to maintain the risks at an acceptable level and include only patients who fail or do not have any other treatment option.

An otherwise healthy 15-year-old male presented with a giant pedunculated mass projecting out of the anal verge that enlarged over 2 years, causing discomfort.
Upon surgical excision and histologic examination, the mass resembled a fibroepithelial polyp with numerous dilated lymphatics.
While literature describes the spectrum of pathology possible in such lesions, often consisting of a mixture of stromal and epithelial components, dilated lymphatics are less common. This giant anal fibroepithelial polyp characterized by edematous stroma and numerous dilated lymphatics is consistent with lymphangioma. To our knowledge, this presentation is novel in this age group with no underlying risk factors.

However, no study has evaluated these apps. The objective of this study was to develop a reliable measure and rate the quality of COVID-19 mobile health apps, to eventually provide a roadmap for future mHealth app development. In this study, we used COVID-related keywords to identify apps for iOS and Android devices. 13 apps (13.5% of the total number of apps identified) were selected for evaluation. App quality was assessed independently using MARS by two reviewers. Search queries yielded a total of 97 potentially relevant apps, of which 13 met our final inclusion criteria. Kendall’s coefficient of concordance value for the inter-rater agreement was 0.93 (p = .03). COVID-19 GOV PK app had the highest average MARS score (4.7/5), and all of the apps had acceptable MARS scores (> 3.0). This study suggests that most COVID-related apps meet acceptable criteria for quality, content, or functionality, and they must highlight esthetic and interesting features for overall quality improvement to be welcomed by users.
To assess the feasibility of comparing the rates of positive depression screens at 6 weeks and 3 months postpartum in women using immediate postpartum etonogestrel implant (ENG-implant) and women using non-hormonal contraception or sterilisation.
This was a pilot prospective cohort study performed to test the design adequacy of comparing the rates of positive postpartum PHQ-9 screens (≥10) in women using immediate postpartum ENG-implant and women using non-hormonal contraception or sterilisation. Participants were recruited during the third trimester of pregnancy or during delivery hospitalisation. They self-allocated to one of the two comparison groups. PHQ-9 surveys were administered during the third trimester of pregnancy, immediately postpartum, and at 6 weeks and 3 months postpartum.
Between June 2017 and March 2018, 91 patients were recruited. Of these patients, 11 were excluded and the remaining 80 were split evenly into each cohort. The women in the ENG-implant group were younger, less educated, and more often publicly insured.
