Series Purpose: To assist National Board candidates in the thinking and writing involved in completing Components 2 – 4 of the National Board Certification process. This series of 2-hour workshops will address the thinking, analyzing, reflecting, and writing demands of Components 2 – 4. Instruction will be a blend of lecture, online, whole class and small group discussion, and peer writing review and response. A writing workshop approach will be taken, so participants will read and respond to colleagues writing and instructional videos. Optional: Participants may earn 4 CUs if they attend all four workshops and complete an additional four hours of homework online (12 hours).
Workshop 2: Analysis and Reflection – The second workshop will focus on reflective and analytic thinking and writing. Participants will work in writing response groups reading and discussing each other’s writing, while addressing the following questions: How is each type of writing unique? How does the thinking differ? What is the purpose of commentary in analysis? What type of details do I include? How can I be clear and succinct? How do I show my thinking? Participants will bring their own work and will share with colleagues.
